Cleaning tarnish off sterling silver in a chemical free way ?
This is a soft brass bristle cleaning brush used by jewellers. Using only a couple drops of dish soap and room temperature water, cleaning jewellery is easy and productive, getting into all the cracks and grooves.
Tarnish is caused by a reaction between sterling silver, moisture and oxygen. Taking care of your jewellery and proper storage is important. If you need to clean you jewellery, this is my favourite method as it is chemical free and works better than most methods.
Remember to thoroughly rinse jewellery, pat dry after cleaning and let air dry fully before jewellery is stored.
Humid environments will cause tarnish to appear sooner.
Store sterling silver in an air tight container or ziplock baggie with something to wick out moisture such as a fresh pack found in vitamin containers or dry food products.
Most other jewellery with gemstones, gold metal and diamonds can also be cleaned this way. Be careful with soft delicate stones such as opal and turquoise when cleaning. Try to avoid delicate stones.
I will be picking up some brushes at the end of October, taking orders now. Please message me and/or reply on this post if you would like to purchase a brush. CAN$23/brush
