Millarville Farmer’s Markets are coming soon! This farmer’s market, in my opinion, is the best local farmers market in the Calgary Area – held at the Millarville Race Tracks @ 306097 192 St W, Millarville, AB
Starting on Saturday June 18th, the markets start with a bang and a half marathon race ending at the Millarville Market. What is better than a run on the beautiful rolling roads of Alberta’s foothills south of Calgary and ending at a farmers market with local juicy produce, fresh squeezed lemonade and handcrafted artisans with their unique goods? The run starts in Black Diamond and heads into Millarville – roads may be a little slower than usual coming in from the south.
Markets open on Saturdays 9:00am-2:00pm from June 18th – Oct 8th, 2016
Admission is $3/car or you can buy an annual membership for $40 at the office which includes admission to all 17 Millarville Farmer’s Markets and free admission to all their annual events.
What can Millarville Market do for you?
It can be a half day outing, cruising the race track roads filled with vendors. Lunch can also be purchased on site.
At least 80% of vendors “Make It, Bake It & Grow It in Alberta”. If you are looking for fresh BC fruit, they have it there too! Local honey? You bet! Stocked Oats? That too!
Enjoy the fire in handmade beautiful cast iron designs, handmade jewellery (Stone Willow of course ;)), knitted items, large weave baskets to carry your produce, baby carriers, all weather mats. There are so many original and high quality items that you won’t need to be inside at the mall anymore this summer.
Enjoy talking to the local farmers, artists and makers about what they love to do. It’s our passion and we love to share.
There is plenty of room for strollers, buggies, wagons, wheelchairs, there are bathrooms, food services, bank machines, shade, sun and sometimes even rain and hail. The market stays open rain or shine so come prepared and ready to buy what you need no matter the weather. Bring your re-usable shopping bags or baskets to carry home your purchases. Some like to bring an umbrella on the hot days and the rainy days. Visitors to this area especially like to enjoy the market as it has a unique local Alberta and Western feel.
Who can resist these bright coloured sweet peppers and juicy ripe tomatoes?? and don’t forget the garden carrots, potatoes and plump raspberries!
This year, I will be at the market with my original handmade Stone Willow designs on the following dates:
Sat June 18th
Sat July 2nd
Sat July 16th
Sat July 23rd
Sat Aug 27th
Sat Sept 10th
Sat Sept 24th
Sat Oct 1st
Lots of leather bracelets to choose from in many colours and styles. I will be ordering some cork leather soon – hopefully ready by July for purchase.
I have thick band leather, thin multi wrap wrist straps, natural earthy colours and bright fun colours, embellishments with flowers, owls, hammered texture metal, and many other fun designs.
One of my passions is creating fun & classy pieces from sterling silver metal. This half-cuff bracelet is adjustable with lengths of chain and silver ball end piece. The cuff is solid polished finish with lengths of contrasting hammer finish.
For the lovers of crystal and bling, there is plenty to choose from. My links and ear wires are all handmade from sterling silver wire purchased from a Canadian refinery.
I’m having fun with stones. Yes, they are all real gemstones cut and drilled so I can make unique pieces with them. These stack-able bangle bracelets look great paired with a triple wrap leather wrist strap. They open and close to ensure that they aren’t too loose on the wrist and they come in many fun colour combinations.
While travelling this year, I came across some beautiful Lapis Lazuli gemstone. These post earrings wrapped lovingly with sterling silver are just one of the creations I’ve made with the Lapis in a deep navy blue.
A close up shot of one of my latest designs – triple layered necklace without the fuss. It’s adjustable at the back with stone dangles on the extra length. The 3 necklaces won’t shift and tangle since they are all encompassed into one necklace, but still give the appearance of layered necklaces. The longest chain has a vertical stone pendant combination.
Some of my designs are not yet listed on my website or Etsy shop, but I hope to have them on soon. In the meantime, you can always contact me for more information and purchasing before they go live: [email protected]
